I just updated the lists on the attendees (33 people!), speakers, (atleast 12 awesome talks) and suggest a topic page. Laura has put a map and some more information on the about page too.
As the event is getting closer I’ve started to think about what I’ll do at OSS Bar Camp on Saturday March 28th. I’ve decided I’ll give a talk during the main event and I’ll ofcourse come along to the geek girl day (Same place, same day) as well. My talk will be about Git which I only have started reading about so far, but would like to learn more over the next two months. So I’ve set a goal to introduce you all to Git at the event as my presentation.
I wonder if any one else would like to speak at this event but haven’t yet been able come up with anything to speak about. If this is the case for you I’d suggest first looking at the speakers page and see what people are already going to talk about. If this hasn’t inspired you go to the suggested topics page and maybe there will be something you know about that others have a desire to hear.
I’d like to attend a talk on how to get more involved in open source myself, I’d like to see the path one of you took to get involved with the projects you work on. From the suggest a topic page I see a trend, people want to learn how Open Source is used in Ireland. Is your business running on open source? can you come along and share some of your experiences? Have you built some software that you can present and share? What are you working on? What do you contribute to?
Finally if you are a technologist and just want really awesome talks, spread the word about OSS Bar Camp to your friends, colleagues and families, encourage awesome people you know to come along and give a presentation. Let the people that have already signed up as speakers know you’re interested in what they have to say as well! I know I’m looking forward to all of them.
